Ahimsa is a brand that's concerned with the big 3: veganism, fair labour, and sustainable production.

What sustainability measures does Ahimsa incorporate?

They use a variety of recycled materials, such as discarded textiles and recycled PET bottles in some of their shoes, and importantly (and often overlooked) they focus also on the durability of all of the materials they use.

What are Ahimsa shoes made of?

Ahimsa uses a variety of synthetic, recycled and organic materials in their shoes, including vegan leather (theirs from polyurethane, or "PU" - which is becoming more sustainable), cotton (for canvas, and lining), and recycled PET bottles. Ahimsa also keeps a close eye on the development of new leather-like alternative materials, such as pineapple leather, apple leather and mycelium leather in order to evaluate them for use in future products.

Do Ahimsa shoes ever go on sale?

Ahimsa occasionally lists some of their shoe, boot and sandal models for sale, often at a steep discount when they do (~40%). They also offer 10% off of your first order when you sign up for their newsletter via their website.

Are Ahimsa workers treated fairly?

Ahimsa's factory is located in São Paulo, Brazil, so their worker's are protected by the labour laws of Brazil, which include 8 hour work days, or 44 hour work weeks (similar to Alberta, Canada). Their website also provides a lot of transparency with regard to introducing the team behind their shoes, including the labourers, and images from the production floor.
