Women's Wallets

Shopping for a vegan wallet, for yourself or a discerning woman in your life, is easy when you know that it's actually vegan. We've contacted all of the companies that make the totes below to ensure they are free of any animal-derived materials and by-products.

Women's Wallets

What is a ‘Vegan’ Women’s Wallet?

Quite simply, a ‘vegan’ wallet is just like a regular wallet, only it’s not made from animal-derived materials, such as leather, crocodile skin, snake skin…you get the idea.

Vegan wallets can carry all of the same items, are just as fashionable and durable as their cruelty-borne counterparts, but are in better taste.

Some women’s wallets are ‘accidentally vegan’, meaning they just happen to be made of animal-friendly materials, without necessarily trying to appeal to the vegan market.

What materials are used?

Vegan women’s wallets can be made out of several animal-friendly materials, which may include (but are not limited to):

  • Hemp
  • Jute
  • Bamboo
  • Linen
  • Denim
  • MuSkin (mushroom-based ‘leathery’ material)
  • Faux Leather*, Leatherette or Pleather
  • Faux Suede, or Suedette
  • Faux Fur
  • Tyvek
  • Recycled materials, such rubber

*Please Note: Faux leather can be made from a very wide variety of materials; some are of higher quality than otters, and some are more eco-friendly and sustainable than others.

Why buy a wallet that’s vegan?

Most people never consider where the material used to make their wallets, purses, shoes or clothes comes from. In general, we tend to only consider the look, the feel, the brand name, and the price, and overlook the origin. Sometimes we even know the origin, but willfully choose to ignore it.

But there’s a very real and painful cost to the materials used in these everyday items; animals need their skin more than we need their skin. Buying a vegan-friendly item is buying an animal-friendly item.

Does 1 wallet really make a difference?

Yes! Here’s how it works; by purchasing a vegan wallet (or any other ‘vegan’ product, for that matter), you’re telling manufacturers and designers that there’s a market for animal-friendly products.

Revenue coming in from these products will help support the product line, so more of them can be made. Demand fuels supply.

This also works two ways; the more vegan products that leave retail shelves, the more animal-derived products sit there and collect dust. This tells companies that the market for them is shrinking, and that the market for cruelty-free products is growing. Lack of demand for animal-derived products shrinks supply.

Are vegan wallets expensive?

Short answer, no. Long answer, it depends on the wallet! Just like their non-vegan counterparts, vegan purses come from different designers, from different brands, and can be made from a wide variety of materials.

Just like those that use animal-derived materials, the prices of vegan wallets can can fluctuate drastically. On the more affordable end of the scale, you have Lavishly, and on the more costly end of the scale, you have Matt & Nat.

How do you select companies to list?

Our process is pretty simple actually. We keep a growing list of seemingly vegan companies that we find through social media, through word of mouth, and by other means.

We then contact those companies to double-check that they don’t use any animal-derived materials in the production of their wallets.

Once we’ve ensured the ‘veganism’ of these products, we check to see if they’re available on Amazon; if they assure us their products are vegan-friendly and those products are sold on Amazon, we list them here for your convenience.
