Is Good Guys' footwear intentionally vegan?
Good Guys Go Vegan appears to be an intentionally vegan brand, rather than one that uses vegan materials out of convenience, or for other reasons. They are proud to be the 1st Vegan French shoe company. What materials are used to make Good Guys' footwear?
On their website, Good Guys will give a general overview of the materials used to make each shoe, within that product's description.Depending on the shoe, boot or sandal, Good Guys uses vegan leather (uppers), vegan suede (microfibre - uppers and lining), rubber (soles), and cotton (laces). They also use AppleSkin™ in some models (which is a bio-leather with a 20-30% apple composition), as well as other bio-based leathers (such as from NO FOOD cereals and corn). According to the Good Guys team, "We are using more and more in our developments, recyclable and recycled materials, plant-based materials which reduce the % of PU used (although we can't get rid of PU entirely, as coagulation for vegan materials is still not possible without it)."
Are Good Guys' shoes, boots & sandals eco-friendly/sustainable?
It's difficult to assess the eco-friendliness of Good Guys’ footwear, as we don't know the exact composition of their shoes, and cannot find any relevant data on their website. Generally speaking, however, vegan leathers are less harmful to the environment that animal-derived leathers - this is backed up by data from inside the fashion industry as well as outside. For the data, please see Collective Fashion Justice’s CIRCUMFAUNA initiative. It's also worth noting, that Good Guys uses a pre-order model for much of their collection, which helps cut down substantially on excessive production and production waste, and that their microfibre is Chromium VI-free, manufactured in a CO2-free system, and meets or exceeds the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.Does Good Guys use green shipping methods?
It's unclear from their website if Good Guys Go Vegan uses net-zero or negative emissions shipping partners, either domestically or internationally. We have asked them for clarification, and are currently awaiting reply.Does Good Guys use eco-friendly packaging?
We have asked the Good Guys team for details regarding the materials they use for packaging, and the've told us that they wrap their shoes in compostable bags from the brand noissue, which can be composted commercially or at home, and use recycled and compostable boxes to ship their footwear. Are Good Guys' shoes recyclable or compostable?
The Good Guys team has informed us that some components of their shoes (like the lining) are recyclable, while others are not yet because the research on recycling these materials isn't quite yet where it needs to be. It's worth noting that Good Guys also works with a shoe recycling partner, Redonner.fr.How should I dispose of my worn out Good Guys shoes?

Good Guys incorporate several elements of a circular economy/slow fashion model, such as having products available by pre-order (which can help reduce over-production), employing fair labour, working with a shoe recycling partner, incorporating increasingly sustainable materials, and making timeless styles. Are they a charitable company?
We have asked the Good Guys team about any charitable initiatives they're involved with, and they've informed us that each year they donate to Peta, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, and Stardust Sanctuary, and that each year they donate more than 100 pairs of their shoes to Secours Populaire (a Charity Association in France).Related Brands
