Is Mercy Made an ethically vegan brand?
Mercy Made appears to be an intentionally and ethically vegan brand, rather than one that uses vegan materials out of convenience, or for other reasons. According to the brand, "Mercy Made focuses on veganism and empowering women first!"What materials are used to make Mercy Made footwear?
The main material for Mercy Made shoes and boots is recycled polyurethane. We have asked the Mercy Made team for details as to what other materials are used in their footwear, and are awaiting reply. Are the materials used to make Mercy Made's shoes eco-friendly/sustainable?
The main material used in Mercy Made's shoes, recycled polyurethane, isn't eco-friendly in and of itself, as it is still plastic that degrades into micro-plastics. However, by not using virgin materials, Mercy Made is able to create usable products out of materials that would have simply been destined for the landfill, while preventing the need to use virgin materials (whether those materials are eco-friendly or not). So in those senses, recycled polyurethane would be considered an eco-friendly material.Does production of Mercy Made shoes create a lot of CO2 emissions?
